Wisdom from the bible
In today’s digital age, social media is a powerful tool that influences our emotions, thinking and how we connect. While it offers opportunities to share God’s goodness to a broader audience, it also presents challenges such as comparison, distraction, and confusion. The Bible offers timeless guidance to help us navigate such challenges and find ways to honor God online.
First Things First, Stay Connected to God
We produce the fruit of whatever we’re connected to the most.
What does remaining in God look like in our daily use of social media?
It impacts people in different ways depending on how you use it.
How would you like to impact others online?
How do you think your posts and interactions are currently impacting people? Do they highlight God’s goodness or cause confusion about the strength of your faith?
Guard Your Eyes and Heart
Be self-aware, analyse how what you take in with your eyes impacts your mind
How does the content you watch or engage with on social media impact you?
What practical steps can you take to ensure your “windows” remain open to light rather than darkness?
Don’t take things directly into your heart, have a filtering system.
What are some of the negative voices that fill your mind when you look at social media?
How can you guard your heart from being influenced by them?
Boundaries Lead to Freedom!
Social media is designed to be addictive, triggering high dopamine levels in our brain and leaving us craving more, often at the cost of our time and mental health. As the brain gets used to the constant stimulation, it can lead to feelings of numbness, emptiness, and disconnection from the real world around us.
Boundaries don’t restrict our freedom but give us freedom!
How do lack of “walls” or boundaries on social media resemble a city with broken walls?
How can we have boundaries around our use of social media?
Sample of boundaries:
screen time / follow and unfollow / mute / not interested button / ad-blocking apps / protection apps / have accountability / overload of information / strangers / investing in real-life relationships etc.

How can you protect your mind from what you mentioned?
